The short answer
Choose the successful customer actions that matter, measure those actions, and connect them with your team's enquiry records. Website analytics can show recorded activity; your team still needs to establish whether an enquiry was genuine, relevant and followed through.
In this guide
Define a successful action
Write a plain-language definition before configuring a report. For example, a successful quote request is a valid form submission that reaches your business, not just a click on Submit.
Keep phone-link clicks, submitted enquiries and confirmed bookings separate. Each tells you something useful, but they are not interchangeable.
Check that the event is actually collected
A configured analytics event is not proof that collection works. Follow the journey with a labelled test and inspect the relevant testing and reporting tools. Check both the successful case and an invalid form submission.
Check for duplicate collection if the same action is tracked by the website, a tag manager and an external booking service. Record any limits caused by consent, blockers or transitions between services.
Keep a simple enquiry record
Record when the enquiry arrived, what the person needed, whether it was qualified and what happened next. Collect only the information your business needs, with suitable access and retention rules.
Use that record alongside analytics. A report that shows ten events does not by itself establish ten new customers.
Review the same measures each week
Start with relevant visits, successful enquiries, qualified leads and confirmed outcomes. Use the same definitions each time, and annotate website or tracking changes.
With small numbers, avoid treating one busy day as a trend. Look for repeated patterns and concrete problems you can fix.
